What to send
- EDTA bloodPurple-cap tube
Whole blood with the anticoagulant EDTA. Fill to the mark and mix gently.
- SerumRed-cap or gel tube
The clear part of clotted blood. Let it clot, then separate it.
In the laboratory's words: EDTA blood, serum or an ear-notch sample. Amount: 1 to 2 ml
How to collect and send it
- Keep chilledKeep it cool, 2 to 8 °C, in a cool box with an ice pack.
- Do not freezeFreezing damages cells and some tests.
- Send the same daySend it to the laboratory on the day it is collected.
Preparation. Keep it cool (not frozen) and send it the same day.
